These terms are an agreement between you and ChaoticByte ("we", "us"), registered in the United Arab Emirates, covering your use of the Firstlight app and this website. By downloading or using Firstlight you agree to these terms.

What Firstlight is, and is not

Firstlight is a self-help tool that supports people who want to reduce or quit pornography use, through habit tracking, motivational features, urge-management techniques, and optional app blocking. Firstlight is not medical care. It does not provide medical or psychological advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, therapist, or other qualified professional. If your situation feels bigger than an app, please seek professional support. Never disregard professional advice because of something in Firstlight.

Eligibility

Firstlight is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the app.

Subscriptions and purchases

• Some features require a paid subscription (weekly or annual) or a one-time lifetime purchase, collectively "Firstlight Pro".
• All payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in your App Store account settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region. Price changes apply from the next renewal, with notice as required by Apple.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

App blocking feature

The lockdown feature uses Apple's Screen Time technology and requires permissions you grant on your device. It is a self-imposed friction tool, not a guarantee: determined circumvention is possible, operating system behavior can change, and we do not promise that blocking will prevent access to any app or content in every circumstance.

Your responsibilities

• Use the app only for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose.
• Do not reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with the app or its services.
• You are responsible for your device, your iCloud account, and the accuracy of what you log.

Your content

Text you write in the app, such as your if-then plan, stays on your device and in your private iCloud as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of it and, by design, cannot access it.

Intellectual property

Firstlight, including its design, artwork, text, and code, belongs to ChaoticByte and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app; they do not transfer any ownership to you.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Firstlight is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Outcomes vary from person to person, and we make no promises about results. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChaoticByte is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using Firstlight at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end access to the app or its services if these terms are violated or where required to protect the service or comply with law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. The date above reflects the latest version, and material changes will be noted in the app. Continuing to use Firstlight after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
